Artist Statement
For me, painting is storytelling. I started working with oils in 2001 and I tapped into an endless well of ideas that motivates me everyday. I am never “not working” on new projects. My goal is to always explore the many different ways to convey an idea or emotion that will resonate with the viewer - in their own unique way. My pathway into the world of art was sparked in high school while flipping through the pages of an art book and stumbling on to the works of the surrealists, my biggest inspiration was the work of Rene Magritte.
Magritte said, “The art of painting is an art of thinking with pictures.” This is what I like to do. While I don’t consider myself a surrealist, I am interested in sharing a thought a story an atmosphere.
